The Might And Power Stakes was first run in 1886 and won by ISONOMY. Run predominantly over 2000m, the race was known as the Caulfield Stakes until 2021 when it was renamed before receiving Group 1 status in 1979.
The race's distinguished honour roll includes three-time winner EURYTHMIC (1920, 1921, 1922), dual winners KINGSTON TOWN (1981, 1982) and LONHRO (2002, 2003), alongside champions NORTHERLY (2001), SO YOU THINK (2010) and ANAMOE (2022).
In 2016, the Might And Power Stakes attracted just 3 runners, with champion mare WINX scaring away most of her opposition. Facing only BLACK HEART BART and HE OR SHE, WINX cruised to a comfortable two-length victory.
