RANDWICK NOTES | EPSOM HCP DAY
Randwick looks set to play off rail on Saturday, with swoopers expected to get their chance as the meeting unfolds.
The weather is the big watch. There’s up to 15mm of rain forecast and, if we cop the lot, the track could push well into the Soft range.
That combination should bring horses capable of getting away from the inside and building momentum into the race. I’ll be wary of anything needing to hug the fence and hoping for gaps.
What does that mean?
Look for horses who can get into the running line, travel comfortably in the conditions and get to the better ground in the straight.
And don’t be afraid of horses settling midfield or worse - this could be a day where swoopers are very much in play.

R5 #16 UNLEESHING
There’s a strong piece of form behind UNLEESHING that I think the market could underestimate.
She comes through the NIGHT AGENT race at Randwick on September 19 - and the clock says it was no ordinary BM78.
That race was the fourth-fastest 1400m race run at BM80 level or lower at Randwick in the past 10 years.
UNLEESHING was desperately unlucky in that race. While she probably wouldn’t have beaten NIGHT AGENT with a clear passage, there was more to give and we marked the race as one to follow.
She now jumps from BM78 to BM94, which might scare a few off, but the time they ran says the form is worthy of the grade.
And importantly, she drops 6.5kg.
She should do very little work early. If she gets the right out when it matters (some concern), she should be winning.
A 3YO at Big Odds?
I've also found a three-year-old at a big price on Saturday that I think is well worth a throw at the stumps.
I'm keeping that one exclusively for Works Burger members.
And for the next three weeks, you can get the Works Burger for just $4.75 per week - 75% off the normal $19 weekly price.
That gets you all our Saturday bets, Track Reports for every metro meeting around the country, Longshots and the rest of the Works Burger content.
Three weeks at $4.75 per week. Just enter coupon code 'SPRING26' at the checkout.
Good Punting.
Nic.
