R7 HKJC WORLD POOL SILVER SHADOW STAKES — 1200M
1 111X CHERRY BOMSHELL Ben E Thompson (2) $6
2 510X PEMBREY James McDonald (10) $5
3 12X AGRARIAN GIRL Tim Clark (7) $4.50
4 333X BY CHOICE Rachel King (8) $13
5 11X3 BANGKOK HOTTIE Kerrin McEvoy (11) $9.50
6 2312 KRASINA Ashley Morgan (1) $23
7 1X GLOBAL GOAL Dylan Gibbons (5) $10
8 17X REACHIN' OUT Regan Bayliss (6) $18
9 10X STRIKING ALIBI Tommy Berry (3) $5.50
10 3X31 COCO AFFAIR Ethan Brown (4) $23
11 726X SCREEN ICON Chad Schofield (9) $14
BEST
CHERRY BOMSHELL (1) is unbeaten with Ben Thompson aboard, including her Percy Sykes win before the break. Thompson was also aboard for her latest trial and she just needs luck at the right time from gate 2. At around $6, the market may be underselling her slightly.
DANGERS
PEMBREY (2) probably found the Golden Slipper a bridge too far in her first preparation. She has trialled pleasingly ahead of her return and gets James McDonald to steer.
AGRARIAN GIRL (3) should be prominent from the outset and has trialled well ahead of her return. She showed plenty in two starts during her first preparation.
BY CHOICE (4) gives Waterhouse/Bott another strong hand and should roll forward with her stablemate.
LONGSHOTS
None.
VERDICT
CHERRY BOMSHELL (1) draws to get the right run and looks a touch of value around $6.
Summary: 1, 2, 3, 4
R8 HYLAND RACE COLOURS SHOW COUNTY QLTY — 1200M
1 5010 MIDNIGHT IN TOKYO Ben E Thompson (6) $7
2 160X DISNECK Tim Clark (9) $7
3 200X ENRICHED Kerrin McEvoy (2) $6.50
4 X455 AVIATRESS Alysha Collett (4) $34
5 2896 INFANCY Dylan Gibbons (3) $14
7 613X MATCHA LATTE Ashley Morgan (5) $4.60
8 412X CAMPIONE D'ITALIA Tommy Berry (8) $3.60
9 2411 SOOTHSAYER Rachel King (1) $5.50
10 8X01 CARBONADOS Chad Schofield (10) $23
BEST
CAMPIONE D'ITALIA (8) announced himself as a high-grade two-year-old earlier this year and you'd expect him to return with a performance that reflects that level. His latest trial came in good company and was perfectly sound.
DANGERS
DISNECK (2) appeals fresh over the Randwick 1200m and has trialled well enough to suggest he can run a big race first-up.
MATCHA LATTE (7) is no stranger to rolling forward and that could prove valuable in a race lacking genuine speed. The query is the trip, having never raced over 1200m.
LONGSHOTS
CARBONADOS (10) beat home what looks a smart one last start and is the obvious value runner at $23 if connections elect to run here.
VERDICT
CAMPIONE D'ITALIA (8) has the class and looks capable of returning at the level he showed as a two-year-old.
Summary: 8, 10, 2, 7
R9 WINX STAKES — 1400M
1 X66X CEOLWULF Chad Schofield (8) $29
2 924X GRINGOTTS Ethan Brown (7) $23
3 922X LINDERMANN Hugh Bowman (12) $61
4 1314 MIDNIGHT DYNAMITE Tim Clark (5) $61
5 261X BEIWACHT Nash Rawiller (4) $19
6 212X AUTUMN BOY Adam Hyeronimus (6) $61
7 621X GREEN SPACES Rachel King (14) $151
8 113X AUTUMN GLOW James McDonald (3) $1.95
9 211X AELIANA N/A (11) $21
10 X834 FANGIRL Tommy Berry (10) $29
11 411X IDLE FLYER Tyler Schiller (9) $51
12 342X LADY SHENANDOAH Kerrin McEvoy (2) $20
13 1X4X BARNAVARA Sam Clipperton (13) $201
14 111X SHEZA ALIBI Luke Nolen (1) $2.80
BEST
AUTUMN GLOW (8) has lost only once and that came at a distance she very likely never see again. She draws beautifully in barrier three, gets James McDonald and looks the obvious starting point in a race Chris Waller has dominated in recent years.
DANGERS
SHEZA ALIBI (14) was breathtaking last preparation and the fact connections bring her back to Randwick for her return says plenty. If she drew gate 5 or 6 she'd be on top.
AELIANA (9) is our current Melbourne Cup favourite and was narrowly beaten in this race 12 months ago. She's another headline act from the powerful Waller team.
LONGSHOTS
None.
VERDICT
AUTUMN GLOW (8) is the horse to beat. She has the record, draw and jockey to make a winning return in a race her stable has made its own.
Summary: 8, 14
R10 TAJIMA WAGYU (BM78) — 1200M
1 X213 COLUMBIA BLUE Nash Rawiller (10) $4.40
2 26X0 SOVEREIGN HILL Adam Hyeronimus (4) $14
3 X495 ZOUPER FUND Shannen Llewellyn (15) $21
4 7085 MOGO MAGIC Braith Nock (12) $21
5 423X BARTOLF Hugh Bowman (9) $20
6 41X4 ALABAMA STATE N/A (14) $20
7 37X4 CALL ME GORGEOUS Kerrin McEvoy (11) $4.50
8 2741 EXIT FEE Chad Schofield (7) $15
9 0322 SNACK BAR Rachel King (5) $13
10 10X1 ANNIE'S ROSE Reece Jones (8) $12
11 350X HIDRIX James McDonald (3) $11
12 1224 LOVE SHUCK Sairyn Fawke (13) $81
13 6421 ERNAUX Tommy Berry (2) $6
14 61X2 MICRO MIKKI Sam Clipperton (6) $51
15 1080 CHEMTRAIL Andrew Adkins (1) $151
BEST
COLUMBIA BLUE (1) has been ultra-consistent aside from one day when he blew the start by 4L and finished unplaced. His defeats this preparation have been narrow and he meets EXIT FEE a couple of kilos better at the weights with Nash Rawiller going back aboard.
DANGERS
HIDRIX (11) hasn't yet given us irrefutable proof that he's a good horse, but he showed plenty of promise as a two-year-old. He resumes off a couple of soft trials and barrier three should give James McDonald a plum run.
ANNIE'S ROSE (10) is unbeaten on Soft ground and returned with a win first-up. Rosehill may be her preferred venue, but she's still a major chance if the rain arrives.
LONGSHOTS
MICRO MIKKI (14) returned with a good second and at $51 is worth including at a big price.
VERDICT
COLUMBIA BLUE (1) has been knocking on the door all preparation and gets the right weight swing with Nash Rawiller back aboard.
