21 2027 ERNAUX N/A (9) $16

22 1X27 GORGEOUS Tyler Schiller (17) $4.40

BEST

BIG PAPA (12) looks the horse with the upside. Trials have been sharp, maps to get cover midfield and his fresh form stacks right up for this grade. The wet is the unknown but there’s enough there to suggest he handles it.

DANGERS

ICE KOOL (20) has returned with two slick trial wins and draws to get the right run just off the speed. If he handles the conditions he’s clearly one of the hardest to beat.

AGATHA (13) was excellent first-up and profiles as a mare still improving this prep. Wide gate hurts but she has the turn of foot to offset it late.

HAY STREET (19) has the tactical speed to cross and sit handy despite the draw. Tough, fit and maps better than it looks on paper.

LONGSHOT

SHROPSHIRE LAD (3) is over the odds in a race lacking proven Heavy trackers. If the pressure gets hot up front he’s one capable of charging into the finish late.

VERDICT: BIG PAPA (12)

Summary: 12, 20, 13, 19, 3

R8 VALE SANDRO D'AMORE (1200m)

1 1890 SUPER NORWEST Braith Nock (13) $26

2 2X35 CREPE MYRTLE N/A (4) $6.50

3 X535 TICKLEBELLY Aaron Bullock (11) $21

4 X110 LA BASILIQUE Sam Clipperton (16) $10

10 1247 MAYBE MOET Sam Clipperton (5) $11

11 1644 SUPER BRIGHT Dylan Gibbons (6) $29

13 2027 ERNAUX Siena Grima (2) $9

14 4681 MISS JENNIFER Jay Ford (7) $41

15 X08X INFUSION Andrew Adkins (12) $17

16 3X44 FLEETING SPIRIT Ashley Morgan (10) $23

BEST

CREPE MYRTLE (2) gets the nod. She was unsuited chasing a hot tempo last start and this maps much kinder from the draw. Wet track breeding there through the dam and she profiles as the mare ready to peak third-up.

DANGERS

SUPER NUI (6) is one of the few proven Heavy trackers in the race and should land the perfect run from gate 3. Louise Day knows her inside out and that counts for plenty in these conditions.

MOTHER GOOSE (8) can spear across and take catching. Won a Midway here before the spell and maps to control a big chunk of the race.

SEQUISTA (9) has market respect and enough class to overcome the draw if the runs appear at the right time.

LONGSHOT

TICKLEBELLY (3) can improve sharply at odds. If the leaders overdo it early she’s capable of rattling home late into the minors.

VERDICT: CREPE MYRTLE (2)

Summary: 2, 6, 8, 9, 3

20 X051 THEBUDGIESMUGLA N/A (18) $8.50

21 X828 SIR DINADAN Reece Jones (6) $13

BEST

ZAMBARDO (4) gets his chance. He’s drifted heavily in betting both runs this prep but this setup looks ideal now out to 2000m from a soft draw. Gosford run was solid, Heavy track credentials are there and this feels like the day they let him rip.

DANGERS

TAVI TIME (1) is impossible to ignore if he stays here. Two from two at the trip and unbeaten in three rides with Bullock aboard. Tough, proven and maps beautifully.

BLACK RUN (19) should inject the speed and if left alone could take plenty of catching. Better than the recent formline suggests.

ZAPHOD (17) profiles as the horse ready to peak. Handles give, gets in light and maps to enjoy the right run midfield.

LONGSHOT

IMPERIALIST (15) is enormous odds for a horse with his wet-track staying profile. One Group 3 win and three placings from four wet-track runs at 2000m all at stakes level. Weighted to figure if anywhere near his best.

VERDICT: ZAMBARDO (4)

Summary: 4, 1, 19, 17, 15

16 617X SILVANITO Regan Bayliss (21) $19

17 293X CAPE BYRON Mollie Fitzgerald (20) $67

18 X116 JUST RESPONSE Andrew Adkins (13) $7

19 1808 KREON Jay Ford (7) $81

20 5412 PANIC N/A (18) $81

21 111X COLD BREW N/A (8) $12

BEST

JUST RESPONSE (18) looks very well placed dropping back in grade and returning to 1200m. His only wet-track run rated well enough for this and he maps to get the right trail behind what should be a genuinely run race.

DANGERS

APPLAUD (13) has trialled nicely for the return and the latest hit-out suggested he’s come back in good order. Expecting him to be strong late if the pattern allows.

SILVANITO (16) is a proven wet-tracker and profiles as a horse that can improve sharply fresh. Wide gate hurts but conditions suit.

HAY STREET (9) brings the right form and maps to get every chance despite the awkward draw. Clearly one of the horses to beat.

LONGSHOT

COLD BREW (21) absolutely bolted in on a Heavy 10 here before the spell and maps well again. Long break is the query but the ability is there at odds.

VERDICT: JUST RESPONSE (18)

Summary: 18, 13, 16, 9, 21
