• Favourites have enjoyed a great record in the race with 6 (40%) wins in the past 15 years – including 2 in the last 4 years.

  
  

• But when the Favourites don’t win, it’s value galore – the last 5 winners that were NOT Favourites had SPs ranging from $10 to $21.

  
  

• The sweet spot for barriers has been wide with 7 winners since 2010 jumping from Barriers 11 – 16. This trend has continued in recent times with 3 of the last 4 winners jumping from Barriers 11 – 15.

  
  

• 6 of the last 9 winners have turned the corner for home in 1st to 4th position on their way to victory.

  
  

• Only 1 Filly has won in the past decade – STARTANTES in 2022.

  
  

• The last 4 winners all raced in the Stradbroke Handicap the race prior. However, only 2 of those winners placed in the Stradbroke.

To maximise your chances based on historical data, look for a runner who is:

·      Is a Favourite

·      Has a wide gate and will be on pace

·      Raced in either Stradbroke/Dane Ripper and finished in the quinella last start

Opened equal Favourite; Ran away from them in the Dane Ripper; Will be on-pace from a wide-ish barrier; Going for 5 in a row and unbeaten at Eagle Farm.

NIC ASHMAN TIP

"GRINZINGER BELLE is the fresh horse on the scene and her career peak came just 2 starts ago whereas some of these you have to go further back suggesting they may not run anywhere near their peak rating. We'll find out whether FLOOZIE and ZASZOU are up to these. Cannot underestimate Waller in a grand final and therefore FIRESTORM must be considered."
