R7

1 X670 CANNONBALL J Allen (5) $41

2 3259 KLABEL J Toeroek (10) $17

3 2X42 MAJOR SHARE T Madden (7) $3.80

4 80X0 BASES LOADED L Currie (3) $17

5 300X CONTEMPORARY L Cartwright (1) $17

6 80X4 GOLDEN MONKEY T Nugent (6) $51

8 2504 COTEHELE R Hammond (4) $15

9 15X1 CARBONADOS C Williams (11) $2.90

10 3505 SOUTH OF INDIA R Houston (2) $6.50

11 89X0 APACHE SONG L Bates (8) $19

12 0X13 WIGGUM J Radley (9) $8

BEST

CARBONADOS (9) overcame difficulties to win fresh at Randwick and drops 5kg. The gap between runs is a positive tweak as he goes flat second-up. Maps for the right trail behind a fast tempo.

MAJOR SHARE (3) Honest type who keeps putting himself in the race and draws well enough to stalk the speed instead of being part of the burn.

WIGGUM (12) will be the one charging late. Closed well last start and profiles as the strongest finisher if they overdo it up front.

DANGERS

KLABEL (2) gets a class drop and that’s often enough to bring him right into these 1200–1300m races. Can settle a pair closer from the draw.

APACHE SONG (11) has more to offer second-up. Should land near the leaders and improve with fitness.

LONGSHOTS

BASES LOADED (4) showed something late at his first run for the Hayes team. Talented early on and could sneak into the money at odds.

VERDICT

CARBONADOS (9) to take advantage of the tempo and weight drop.

16 7491 SUNTORA (3)

17 3219 GATES L Nolen (17)

18 22X9 PICTURE OF A CITY (5)

BEST

PARTY CRASHER (9) found plenty second up and looks to have more improvement to come. Draws for a sweet midfield run and the rise to 2000m holds no fears.

LIBERAMI (1) has been strong through the line at his past two and shapes as a genuine improver at the trip. Ready to peak.

NAVY KING (8) is rock-hard fit and consistent. Maps near the leaders and should get every chance to control his own fate.

DANGERS

DARKNCONFIDENTIAL (5) continues to race well and is holding solid form lines for this level.

HOWLIN' RAIN (2) was dominant at Moe but shoots up from 54kg to 59.5kg, which is the only knock. Still has the right map to be in the firing line.

CABLE DANCER (10) will be hitting the line strongly.

LONGSHOTS

POLITELY DUN (14) is fitter and could improve sharply with the rise in distance.

GATES (17) won over this trip two back and can bounce back with a cleaner run.

VERDICT

PARTY CRASHER (9) to continue his upward trend and win again.

SUMMARY

9 – 1 – 8 – 5 – 2

1 8251 CASINO SEVENTEEN H Coffey (2) $13

2 X281 KINGSWOOD J Allen (6) $5.50

12 5X65 PROMISES KEPT B Mertens (11) $26

13 0360 CADMUS P Moloney (5) $81

14 8473 OCEAN BEYOND L Currie (8) $29

15 0433 GHETTO SUPASTAR T Nugent (10) $67

BEST

SAINT GEORGE (6) has hit the line superbly in both runs this prep, finishing second each time. The rise to 2000m is ideal and he maps to get clear air in a race lacking obvious speed.

AIR ASSAULT (3) was dominant two back in Adelaide and wasn’t disgraced in the Cranbourne Cup after settling further back than expected. If he jumps cleanly, he can land on speed and control the race.

KINGSWOOD (2) held off Saint George at Flemington and continues to race consistently. Placed to win again if he gets into a rhythm near the front.

DANGERS

STATUARIO (9) should have finished much closer last start after not getting a crack at them. The extra trip looks perfect.

CASINO SEVENTEEN (1) comes off a strong win last week and holds form well deep into preps. Must be respected.

DETONATOR JACK (5) remains capable with the right tempo and can surge late.

LONGSHOTS

SHAIYHAR (10) improved nicely last start and looks one who could run on into the placings at big odds.

VERDICT

SAINT GEORGE (6) to break through third-up with the step to 2000m.

19 X511 RECON P Moloney (12) $10

20 X744 KAHHOF B Mertens (19) $23

BEST

ROADCONE (14) has been close up in both runs this prep and now drops from 56.5kg to 54.5kg. Maps to get a beautiful run just behind the speed with a strong tempo on. Ready to peak.

SUNSHINEINMYPOCKET (3) owns the strongest set of ratings in the race and will be one of the strongest late. Draw is tricky but class should offset it.

STYLISH (10) continues to race well and gets a perfect midfield map to blend in behind a hot speed.

DANGERS

SOUGHT AFTER (15) is the big closer from the Moody/Coleman yard and will be launching late off the hot tempo.

GRID GIRL (6) has tactical speed and is racing in career-best form after back-to-back wins. Can absorb pressure and still kick.

HE’LL RIP (13) draws wide but stays competitive at this level and can track the speed line into the race.

LONGSHOTS

DUAL PRESSURE (4) gets Jason Holder, who is 2/2 on him in Adelaide. Should get every favour from gate 2.

VERDICT

ROADCONE (14) to stalk the speed and finish over the top with the weight drop.

SUMMARY
