FUTURES BET - PRIVATE EYE

Another outstanding performance over 1200m has prompted connections of Private Eye to give serious consideration to the G1 Champions Sprint [1200m] on the final day of the Melbourne Cup carnival.

Private Eye was a slashing second in Saturday's $15million Everest [1200m] at Royal Randwick.

The Beaten Favourite internal ratings had the son of Al Maher running a career peak first-up in the Gilgai Stakes down the Flemington straight before running a similar mark in the Everest on an unsuitable soft track.

When we spoke to the gelding's trainer, Joe Pride, last week on our podcast he told us the horse "has never been better" and he's so confident "the best is yet to come" from the five-year-old.

The Beaten Favourite has taken the $7 at Sportsbet about Private Eye in the Champions Sprint copping the "Futures Insurance" currently on offer from the wagering giant. This ensures if Private Eye doesn't run in the Champions Sprint, we get our back money. Providing we get a dry track, punters can expect the market to rally for Private Eye based on his ratings this campaign.
