2 117X DIAMOND SHOW T.Schiller (2) ($8)
3 17X5 EMPRESS OF JAPAN J.Collett (3) ($4.50)
4 8088 DIAMOND MODEL N/A (—) (SCR)
5 0X58 ZOE M.Bourke (7) ($15)
6 01X1 THE MONA LISA A.Calder (6) ($7.50)
7 747X FAST TRACK D.Gibbons (1) ($4.20)
8 150X FLAMING MOON L.Magorrian (9) ($7.50)
10 6723 EMILIA JANE J.Ford (4) ($3.90)
11 5X34 FANCY GARTER G.Buckley (8) ($16)
BEST
(3) EMPRESS OF JAPAN is the one with upside — closed strongly first-up at this track over a sprint trip and now steps to her preferred 1400m. Suited by a more genuine tempo and maps ideally to strike late.
(6) THE MONA LISA produced a stylish win fresh at Goulburn and should only improve with that run under her belt. Progressive mare with a strong turn of foot who handles all conditions.
DANGERS
(7) FAST TRACK resumes off three solid Randwick trials and gets the inside draw to control her own destiny. Capable of a bold fresh run.
(10) EMILIA JANE has been racing honestly and her effort here last time was full of merit. Can maintain form and be in the mix again.
LONGSHOTS
(5) ZOE has been kept on the fresh side and drops in class after tackling stronger company. Value hope if she can reproduce her best effort from earlier in the prep.
VERDICT
(3) EMPRESS OF JAPAN to peak second-up and prove strongest late over her ideal trip.
Summary: 3 – 6 – 7 – 10
RACE 6 – 1800m HANDICAP
1 5X50 OLD GREGG A.Villiers (9) ($34)
2 3353 SQUEEZEBOX J.Ford (8) ($9)
3 8441 CASABLANCA EXPRESS C.Schofield (5) ($7)
4 4313 NORTH TERRACE L.Magorrian (3) ($11)
5 0X61 GEEMES A.Collett (4) ($5.50)
6 6728 WEBEJAMIN D.Gibbons (1) ($5)
7 7X54 KONING J.Collett (7) ($4.40)
8 3543 MAGIC PHAROAH T.Schiller (2) ($4)
9 9687 FAYE RUNAWAY W.Costin (10) ($34)
10 3465 GWENDIE B.Ryan (6) ($16)
BEST
(8) MAGIC PHAROAH is bursting to win. Closed strongly when third here last start under Schiller, who sticks — ideal draw and tempo to go one better.
(6) WEBEJAMIN returns to her home track and finds a much softer race than the Midway she tackled at Randwick. Draws to do no work and can hit the frame at a price.
DANGERS
(7) KONING third-up and ready to fire. Has been chasing over shorter trips and looks primed to relish the step to 1500m. Big watch from the Freedman yard.
(5) GEEMES took control second-up at Queanbeyan and proved too classy. Still lightly raced and maps perfectly to settle just off speed again.
LONGSHOTS
(2) SQUEEZEBOX doesn’t win often but has been honest all prep. Stuck on gamely last time behind Miss Hvar and now fifth-up, he could surprise with a soft run.
VERDICT
(8) MAGIC PHAROAH to convert consistent form into victory, with (6) WEBEJAMIN and (7) KONING the main threats.
Summary: 8 – 7 – 6
RACE 7 – 1800M PLATE
1 34X3 BLACK BABYLON T.Sherry (12) ($2.70)
2 74 COPARTNER PEGASUS C.Lever (10) ($18)
3 87X0 EYESPY THE EAGLE R.Bayliss (6) ($81)
4 23X6 MR CONSPIRACY L.Beuzelin (8) ($34)
5 2322 THE BIG BLUE D.Gibbons (9) ($3)
6 3253 THINK OF ONE C.Schofield (4) ($26)
7 4X67 MY CARTOUCHE W.Costin (1) ($81)
8 X276 SHADASHI L.Magorrian (11) ($14)
9 8997 TRAGEDIES A.Morgan (3) ($41)
10 593 COOL DRINKS A.Adkins (2) ($10)
12 64 SWING STATE J.Collett (13) ($7.50)
13 5 TORMANZOR A.Collett (7) ($29)
14 94 ALNAIR K.McEvoy (5) ($10)
BEST
(5) THE BIG BLUE has been building to a win and finds his race today. Fitter for the recent run over this track and trip where he sat on the speed and fought gamely. Well placed to break through.
(1) BLACK BABYLON wasn’t suited fresh when trapped off the track but strips fitter and maps much better this time. Major player with Tom Sherry staying aboard.
DANGERS
(14) ALNAIR lightly raced filly who stuck on well at Nowra over 1400m. The step to the mile looks ideal, and she has the upside to measure up.
(10) COOL DRINKS fought on strongly at Goulburn last time and should enjoy a similar run here. Definite top-four contender.
LONGSHOTS
(12) SWING STATE was caught wide at Kembla but wasn’t disgraced. Third-up now, can improve sharply with a more economical run.
VERDICT
(5) THE BIG BLUE to notch a deserved maiden win ahead of (1) BLACK BABYLON and the improving (14) ALNAIR.
Summary: 5 – 1 – 14
RACE 8 – 1400M HANDICAP
1 00X8 YABBY PUMP A.Adkins (7) ($11)
2 489X AUTOMNE TREE K.McEvoy (3) ($4.20)
3 8564 HELLOVA NATURE L.Magorrian (5) ($11)
4 3X47 SCORCHED LANE J.Collett (8) ($5.50)
5 4X43 BEND THE KNEE J.Ford (2) ($8.50)
6 1472 RONNY ROCK ART G.Cahill (4) ($17)
7 7613 SMART SERENADE N/A (10) ($13)
8 X418 FORBIDDEN RIFF C.Schofield (11) ($12)
9 5136 FELIS CHAUS T.Schiller (9) ($4.60)
10 67X1 HETZENDORF R.King (6) ($12)
11 1825 TONG HO A.Morgan (1) ($11)
BEST
(9) FELIS CHAUS looks ready to win after finishing strongly at Warwick Farm. Forgive his last effort when posted deep — well drawn now to stalk the speed and finish hard.
(2) AUTOMNE TREE resumes off two nice trials for Waller and will appreciate this distance fresh. Has early tactical speed and is a proven first-up performer.
DANGERS
(4) SCORCHED LANE comes here off a stylish Randwick trial win where he led throughout. Fresh enough but race-fit profile and can give a sight if left alone up front.
(10) HETZENDORF was dominant here on resumption. Blinkers on, sticks to the same trip, and could easily measure up in stronger grade.
LONGSHOTS
(6) RONNY ROCK ART surprised many with a tough on-speed effort at Warwick Farm. If he repeats that effort under similar tactics, he’s capable of featuring again.
VERDICT
(9) FELIS CHAUS to atone and break through, with (2) AUTOMNE TREE and (4) SCORCHED LANE the key dangers.
