Member Request - MONTEFILIA

TBF member Glenn has asked "can Montefilia get two miles?" as he considers the $15 on offer ahead of next Tuesday's Melbourne Cup.

TBF recently launched our "REQUEST" button whereby our members can obtain information from our database on any thoroughbred in the land relating to a past or upcoming race.

While our full Melbourne Cup runner-by-runner preview will be emailed to our members on Saturday night, we thought we'd get back to Glenn a little earlier on this one.

The TBF database shows Montefilia's three peak figures are at 2400, 2400, 2500 suggesting she is a natural stayer.

She was 2UP into a gut-buster in the Hill Stakes won by Cascadian, who returned a career peak that day when beating Numerian in slogging conditions Then she goes to a slowly run Caulfield Cup and got into a mathematically impossible to win-position but came home in 11.21, the best L200m of the meeting.

The table below shows Montefilia's Career Peak, Peak This Prep, Peak Distance [we use 2400m+], Peak Wet [in case it rains], Predicted Rating [our forecast rating for Mlb Cup]

We have to call ourselves out as this 4-time G1 winner got under our guard [insert embarrassed face] when we assessed the Melbourne Cup on Monday. Her distant third to Cascadian and unplaced run in a low-rating Caulfield Cup triggered our hasty disregard of Montefilia. The race shapes from her past two starts suggest she will peak next Tuesday, her best figures are up there with the leading Australian contingent and they indicate two miles will be fine.

Cheers Glenn!
