Ratings suggest FEMMINILE’s SA Derby victory won’t be enough to snare a spring major but another three-year-old filly displayed sectionals of a top class galloper.

On a day where 5 of the 9 winners were in lanes 5 to 8, FEMMINILE found a race that lacked a standout colt/gelding and together with a ground-saving ride, she was able to defy favourite STATUARIO. The best last 200m of the race belonged to VRC St Leger winner AMERICAN WOLF.
Here’s our carnival snapshot review of last Saturday;
· MORPHETTVILLE: ON DISPLAY clocks the best last 400m of the day out in Lane 18 (widest of any winner all day) when taking out the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas (1600m). She is clearly one to follow from the meeting and will be winning better races than this.
· EAGLE FARM: Our one to follow from a fortnight ago, FLOOZIE, bolted in at short odds in the BM78 over 1200m. She beat standard time by more than 2L with a monster L600m that almost 9L above standard and the fastest at the meeting. She also used lane 3 which was closest to the fence of any winner all day.
· EAGLE FARM: TAVS chalked up his 3rd win from as many starts in the BM85 (1400m). His last 2 starts have been career-best ratings for him. Clearly just hitting his straps and can beat the handicapper again.
