Saturday Bets! 2025 Epsom Handicap

The barriers have been drawn for one of Australia's most famous races, the Group 1 Epsom Handicap, set to run this Saturday at Randwick.
This year will mark the 160th year of the Epsom Handicap with an honour roll boasting some equine greats including GUNSYND, SUPER IMPOSE and WINX. There's been 3 dead-heats in the race, most recently in 2022 when ELLSBERG and TOP RANKED went to the line together.
2025 EPSOM HANDICAP FIELD

MARKET
8 Favourites have won over the past 30 years and if you backed them all you'd be pretty much square.
7 of the last 15 winners were single digits but not favourite suggesting punters should look to the fringe of the market.
BARRIERS
If you're an AUTUMN GLOW fan don't worry about the barrier draw - 8 of the last 13 winners jumped from a double digit barrier.
LEAD-UP FORM
You have to go back to ROCK KINGDOM in 2009 to find a winner that missed a Top 4 spot in their lead-up run.
5 of the last 7 winners came thru the Bill Ritchie. Just DEPTH OF CHARACTER and YELLOW BRICK come through that race this year.
AGE
5 of the last 7 winners were 4YOs, they've also won 19 of the last 29 editions.
AUTUMN GLOW
Looking to become the 7th horse to complete the Theo Marks - Epsom Hcp double. The last was WINX in 2015, before that RACING TO WIN in 2006.
From what we can see, she will be the first unbeaten galloper to win the race.
She could become the shortest-priced favourite to win the race with RACING TO WIN holding that title with an SP of $1.70.
