TRACK REPORT
SOFT TO GOOD
LANES 4+
STALKING/MID-RUNNERS SUITED
"Inside couple of lanes inferior, bit better in Lane 3 and better again from Lane 4 out. Track should suit horses settling midfielf with cover then blending in around that home turn at least 4 off the rail."
NIC ASHMAN'S BEST
"Tricky card but I think there's a PLACE DOUBLE paying around $2.50 that can keep us interested this afternoon. The Wyong Cup is the perfect race for BELLA MONTAGNA, who arrives here off an 83-day break having contested the Brisbane Cup. With ELIYASS engaged, this could be the first time she resumes in a race with pace. Because of this, I'm expecting her to run a career peak fresh rating. But the presence of MUTASALEM/ELIYASS makes it tough to back her outright. They are hard fit.
Meanwhile, the Mona Lisa Stakes sets up well for MODELLA - a horse I have a lot of time for albeit she can be costly. She gets back in her races and draws wide here but the 1350m start point at Wyong is incredibly fair especially given the shape of this track. Zac Lloyd who is riding at 29% strike rate from his last 100 jumps in the saddle and this mare reeled off the 6th fastest last 600m of the day when resuming in a G2 race during the autumn. She is yet to miss a place when favourite for a race.
Take the place double on these two girls in Race 6 and 7 and we should build a small but sweet bank for a big weekend of racing."
