TRACK REPORT

"Good deck with Lane 1 just marginally inferior which should ensure we don't get that leader-dominated track that can appear at Canterbury. Leaders are still in play but we expect Lanes 2 to 6 to provide the bulk of the winners"

NIC ASHMAN'S BEST

Rather than smashing the early prices, I'd suggest you watch the market on the two horses below and bet late. Both rate well on my stuff but have queries that I believe the market will provide the best guide on.

Race 3 No.1 SWORD OF LEGACY is $4.40 on the morning line and has looked very sharp in two trials this campaign. She's a nippy-sort of horse, who is entitled to trial well but she raced well as a 2YO and started $3.30 in a Listed Talindert Stakes. The small field suits and Waller has used Braith Nock 9 times for 2 wins with a POT of almost +40% (albeit minimal data).

Earlier in the night Race 1 No.3 MATIAS $4.80 returned as a gelding last month with a good 2nd in a high rating Maiden. The query is the dry track, so far he's thrived with some cut in the ground. But his last start rating is superior to any of these and the strength of his last 200m off that tempo, suggests the stable had him forward for that run, which means 1550m second-up shouldn't be a concern.

Good luck!

Nic
