LANES 5+

Some rain has kept the track deep in the soft range. Up to 8mm of rain is forecast but most of clouds are settling in north of Sydney but there is some chance we'll get to a heavy. Track most likely stays deep into the Soft-range with an Off Rail day predicted. Look for horses in Lanes 5 and beyond to dominate the winners' circle. Wind no longer a factor, which brings mid-runners into play more so. The best play is settling in the running line (could be 2 or 3 off fence) with cover and then blending in 4, 5 and 6 wide around the turn.

"Runner-up in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic. Had 7 weeks off then ran in the Todman which was the slowest of all 6 Golden Slipper lead-ups conducted in Sydney. If you subscribe to theory he's a 1400m horse then a slowly run 1200m race is not going to suit him. Was held-up too. Tricky start point the 1400m and he'll save valuable ground from gate 1, which should offset the inferior ground factor."
