19 PHEARSON N/A (18) $151
BEST
(2) JIMMYSSTAR was the best of those who chased Ka Ying Rising last start and shapes as the logical horse to beat here. Proven at the trip and ready to explode.
(4) PRIVATE EYE has found a new lease on life rolling along on top of the speed. Wide gate makes it tricky but he's good enough to win this.
DANGERS
(12) LADY SHENANDOAH shapes as though this distance will suit. Hasn't had much go right this prep.
(5) ROTHFIRE remains a danger when the tempo is right — veteran sprinter who maps to find the right spot, off rail just behind the speed.
LONGSHOTS
(7) STRAUSS is the x-factor — Japanese raider with big upside. Has trialled impressively and could easily surprise fresh.
(6) IOWNA MERC will appreciate any cut in the ground and has the figures to sneak into the finish at odds.
VERDICT
(2) JIMMYSSTAR to stamp himself as a genuine Group performer after a gutsy Everest run.
Summary: 2 – 4 – 12 – 5 – 7

14 AUTUMN GLOW J.McDonald (9)
15 PERFUMIST R.King (1)
16 MODELLA C.Schofield (12)
17 ECLAIR ENCORE J.Ford (8)
BEST
(14) AUTUMN GLOW unbeaten star who announced herself with a dominant G1 win last start. Her trial behind FULLY LIT was sharp and she’s perfectly drawn to camp off the speed and come late down the middle. The mare to beat again.
(3) LINEBACKER has been targeted at this from a long way out. Classy colt who can take a perfect trail and pounce late.
DANGERS
(12) PANJA TOWER brings the strong Japanese form line — beat Obamburumai (last year’s winner) in May and has trialled well since arriving. Big danger if the breaks come.
(6) FULLY LIT adds tempo and strength to the race. Honest type who’ll keep rolling and make them earn it.
LONGSHOTS
(16) MODELLA was a class above dropping back to Midway grade last start. Not far away in the Golden Pendant prior — smoky.
(11) CRISTAL CLEAR rarely runs poorly and can absorb hot tempo.
VERDICT
(14) AUTUMN GLOW to keep her unbeaten record.

14 9X00 SCARLET OAK Z.Lloyd (5)
15 8931 STATE OF AMERICA J.Ford (3)
16 0945 CHURCHILL’S CHOICE J.Van Overmeire (16)
BEST
(6) WOOTTON VERNI maps ideally and looks primed to strike again. Proven at the trip and finds a perfect scenario to control the race.
(4) MAISON LOUIS draws for a soft trail and continues to run honest races. Genuine threat to breakthrough this prep.
DANGERS
(1) FAWKNER PARK last year’s winner who can improve sharply under new management. Class runner of the race with a jockey who is riding at 25% of late.
(15) STATE OF AMERICA is building momentum and stays well. Could test the top pair with a soft tempo.
LONGSHOTS
(16) CHURCHILL’S CHOICE comes through a strong form race and looks well placed back in class.
(2) BOIS D’ARGENT has the talent to fill a placing if conditions fall his way.
VERDICT
(6) WOOTTON VERNI to land another feature courtesy of a dream map.
Summary: 6 – 4 – 1 – 15 – 16

14 PRESIDENT T.Sherry (5)
15 SATNESS — Scratched
16 THEBLADE Z.Lloyd (7)
17 ORTHIE’S BOYS — (18)
18 KING TAURUS — (4)
BEST
(8) POLYGLOT has been ultra-consistent all prep and looks ready to close his campaign with another strong showing. Maps ideally and gets the services of McDonald to ensure a soft run, which he needs going up in trip.
(1) MONEY TEAM was luckless in the Silver Eagle after drawing the carpark. Should roll forward here to control the tempo — major winning chance.
DANGERS
(2) EMIRATE was plain last time but looks better placed back in this grade. Still an entire, so this run may define his future direction, but raw ability alone keeps him in calculations.
(6) BARTOLF genuine each-way hope if he lands midfield cover.
LONGSHOTS
(16) THEBLADE has been costly to punters but his recent form reads stronger than it looks on paper. Comes out of a fast race and gets one final chance at odds.
(4) HUON could surprise dropping back in trip if tempo softens mid-race.
VERDICT
(8) POLYGLOT to finish the day on a high and cap a strong prep.
