Here are the historical stats and trends to help you land the winner of the 2025 G1 Doomben Cup raced over 2000m under WFA conditions.

Here’s what you need to know:
Favourites (ANTINO) have won 9 times (31%) since 1995 and if you had $100 on every fav since '95 then you'd be up $275.
Plenty of value in recent years with 4 of the last 5 winners starting at double-digit odds including the last 3 editions.
Furthermore, 7 of the last 8 winners started at $9 or more.
The sweet spot is Barriers 6 – 9 with 5 of the last 8 winners jumping from these middle gates.
Double digit barriers [ANTINO] have proven unsuccessful with only 2 winners jumping from gate 10 or wider since 2010.
Older males have been hugely successful winning 14 of the last 16 editions including the last 4.
The girls [PRIDE OF JENNI] have had no luck with only 3 Mares winning since 1995 – the last KENEDNA (2019).
The traditional lead-up is the Hollindale Stakes with 6 of the last 7 winners using it – but 4 of those were unplaced in the Hollindale proving form turnarounds can happen.
Remarkably, 6 of the last 9 winners have settled either 7th or 8th at the 800m.
No horse has worn Saddlecloth 7 (KOVALICA) to victory in the past 30 years.
Annabel Neasham and Peter & Paul Snowden have shared the last 4 Doomben Cup victories.
To maximise your chances based on historical data, look for a runner who is:
Starting at $9 or more and jumping from middle Barriers 6 – 9
An older Male carrying 59kg
Raced in the Hollindale and may settle in the midfield
Andy’s Tip: 4. BOIS D’ARGENT $21
Ticks all the above boxes and is trained by Annabel and Rob Archibald. Won his most recent 2000m run by 2.3L.
NIC ASHMAN DOOMBEN CUP TIP
"ANTINO beat standard time by 2L winning the Hollindale Stakes when second-up last start. The fact his winning margin was 3.5L means the rest were well below par for that grade. On a dry track, smart punters would either back him or look for another formline but given the Hollindale was run on Heavy going and this week's race is likely to be on a Good track then I think there's a case the likes of BOIS D'ARGENT, LINDERMANN and ELIYASS could improve significantly. ANTINO is recording career peak ratings this season while BOIS D'ARGENT was running peak figures until his Heavy track failure last start. Back them both."
Also racing this Saturday at Doomben is the G2 The Roses raced over 2000m for the 3YO Fillies under Set Weight Conditions. Here are a few historical stats and trends:
5 of the last 8 winners have been Favourites
Placing $100 on the Favourite since 2006 would see you up $1420
7 of the last 8 winners have started at $4 or less
6 of the last 8 winners have jumped from Barriers 2 – 6
Chris Waller is looking for his 4th win in 8 years with MOVIN OUT, FULL HAO or LOVEY DOVEY
Andy’s Tip: 1. BENAGIL $3
Although the gate is sticky, the only horse under $4 points towards the Favourite who have dominated in recent years. MORE PREDICTED TRACK PATTERNS, BEST BETS AND LONGSHOTS via TBF WORKS BURGER. YOU CAN GET A 7-DAY FREE TRIAL RIGHT NOW by clicking on the image BELOW
