Originally a Principal Race before becoming a G2, the Flight Stakes was elevated to G1 status in 1985.
Its honour roll includes champions SUNLINE (1998), SAMANTHA MISS (2008), MORE JOYOUS (2009), SECRET ADMIRER (2010) and MONTEFILIA (2020).
OOHOOD produced one of the race's most remarkable results in 2018, breaking her maiden at her 10th career start — in a G1!
